Expertises Media consulting Media website UX/UI design

Cosa supported Têtu in its digital transformation, contributing to its revival since 2018.

By redesigning its website, developing innovative tools, and organizing a major LGBTQ+ event on Twitch, we helped the magazine achieve profitability for the first time in its history.

A collaboration in service of a digital revival

Overview

Since 1995, Têtu has been the leading French-language media outlet for the LGBTQ+ community. In 2018, under the leadership of Albin Serviant, the magazine turned to Cosa to revitalize its digital presence with the goal of modernizing its image and reaching a broader audience.

Context

Têtu faced significant financial and editorial challenges. Cosa’s mission was clear: design a high-performing website, develop tools tailored to the editorial team’s needs, and organize digital events to boost community engagement.

Briefly

Through three key steps—website redesign, creation of an editorial monitoring tool, and organization of an unprecedented digital event—Cosa enabled Têtu to triple its paying subscribers and reach over 1.5 million people during a flagship event.

Results / Impacts

+50 % increase in unique monthly visitors between 2018 and 2019 (1 million unique visitors/month).
3x more pages viewed per visit.
Growth from 1,500 to nearly 5,000 paying subscribers.
1.5 million participants reached during a Twitch event.

Solutions

Financing and development

We assisted Têtu in securing funding from the Press Support and Development Fund. In less than three months, we designed a new website with a modern graphic charter. Featuring a dynamic paywall inspired by The Guardian’s model, the site increased traffic, visitor loyalty (2 sessions/month on average), and paid subscriptions.

Better embodying LGBTQ+ news coverage

We developed “Minority Report,” a social listening tool funded by Google Digital News Initiative. Integrated into the back office, it allows the editorial team to track regional or international publications that were previously inaccessible. The result: enhanced monitoring and greater diversity in content shared.

Bringing Pride Marches Online

During the pandemic, we organized Fièr.e.s & TÊTU, the largest LGBTQ+ event ever streamed on Twitch. We conceptualized and produced a 14-hour livestream featuring short films, DJ sets, and masterclasses. With a dedicated production team and active moderation against trolls, the event reached over 1 million people, including 240,000 participants on Twitch and 900,000 cumulative views.
